Arsenal suffered their first defeat in the UEFA Europa League this season after going down 2-0 to PSV Eindhoven on Thursday evening.
The Gunners named Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus on the bench, but started goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for the first time in the tournament this season.
PSV started the brighter on eight minutes and managed to bring a save out of Ramsdale from a speculative shot on a tight angle by Xavier Simons.
Arsenal struggled to work around the home side's low-block afterwards and conceded when Cody Gakpo broke through on the counter-attack and tucked over Ramsdale, but it was called for offside.
The scare woke the Gunners up and ahead of the midway period had their first meaningful chance where Eddie Nketiah cut inside from a tight angle to bring Walter Benitez to a smart stop.
PSV didn't lose rhythm three minutes to halftime and had the ball in the net again after Simons escaped two challenges in the area to scramble in, but it was again ruled out for offside.
Ex-Manchester United striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who hold the reigns at PSV, showed a change at halftime with Luuk De Jong in for Anwar El Ghazi.
De Jong's arrival energized the host and with ten minutes from the break went ahead after his low ball on the edge of the area brought Joey Veerman in for a first-time finish.
The Red and Whites made it two when the self-same De Jong made a towering leap in the area and headed in an in-swinging corner midway following the second period.
Arsenal sprung to life towards the final minutes and nearly pulled one back when Nketiah's snap-shot from a loose attempt by Granit Xhaka forced Benitez into a save.
The Gunners were unable to conjure a turnaround as the clocked ticked away and saw PSV to a 2-0 win and in with a chance to qualify for the last 32 from Group A.
