Barca rescue a thrilling draw at home to Man Utd

FC Barcelona and Manchester United went toe-to-toe at the Camp Nou, with the two sides drawing 2-2 in their UEFA Europa League last 32 clash on Thursday night.

Erik ten Hag was able to call upon Casemiro, who took the place of suspended Marcel Sabitzer as Aaron Wan-Bissaka replaced Diogo Dalot at right-back.

The hosts made two changes from the win over Villarreal, a Jordi Alba and former Chelsea star Marcos Alonso were brought into the defence.

The Red Devils looked lively in the early stages, although Barcelona registered the first meaningful strike at goal with Robert Lewandowski unleashing a powerful strike that was palmed away by David de Gea.

Ten Hag's side should have taken the lead on 26 minutes when Bruno Fernandes played in Wout Weghorst, who fired straight at Marc-Andre ter Stegen in a one-on-one situation.

Marcus Rashford had a quiet start to the game but he nearly got the breakthrough ten minutes before the break, after skipping past one challenge in the box before seeing his strike saved by ter Stegen.

Barcelona were dealt a blow five minutes before the break as Pedri picked up an injury and had to be withdrawn, with Sergi Roberto coming on in his place.

The home side would go on to get the opening goal as Alonso lost his marker at the far post and sent a neat header past De Gea.

United got back on level terms two minutes later when Fred played in Rashford, who took one touch before firing home a low effort at the near post.

The Red Devils then took the lead on 59 minutes when Rashford did well to skip past one challenge and send a low cross into the box that was turned home by Barcelona's Kounde.

The end-to-end affair continued as Barcelona got back on level terms in the 76th minute when Raphinha's cross evaded everyone and sailed into the far corner.

De Gea came to United's rescue in the closing stages with another instinctive save to keep out Ansu Fati's first-time volley after Casemiro had hit his own upright seconds earlier, as the two sides settled for a 2-2 draw in the end.
