Arsenal confirmed top spot in Group A in the UEFA Europa League after registering a 1-0 win over bottom-placed FC Zurich on Thursday evening.
Egypt international Mohamed Elneny returned from an injury lay-off and started for Arsenal, who also had Oleksandr Zinchenko back on the bench.
Arsenal hit the front on 17 minutes after a slow start when a loose ball on the edge of the area fell straight to Kieran Tierney, who volleyed into the bottom-corner.
More chances came the way of the host four minutes later where a flying shot outside the area by Eddie Nketiah nearly resulted in a second goal before Yanick Brecher guided the attempt away from target.
Nketiah posed another threat shortly after the half-hour mark when his header from a pin-point corner-kick forced Brecher across the near post to parry away.
While Zurich brought Antonio Marchesano on at halftime, the Gunners were close to getting a second goal when Gabriel Jesus beat the offside trap and side-footed off the backside of Brecher.
The Gunners looked to double their tally midway through the second period from a cross-cum shot by substitute Bukayo Saka, but Brecher was on high alert and managed to smother.
Zurich had the ball in the net minutes later when Aaron Ramsdale parried Marchesano's first-time shot into the path of Adria Guerrero, who finished off the rebound though the offside flag went up.
The Swiss champions enjoyed the better of the attacking play towards full-time although they failed to breakdown the Gunners and bowed out of the tournament after finishing bottom in the group.
