Uefa Champions League Wrap 12 December 2018

The battle rights to top Group E was up for grabs when Ajax Amsterdam and Bayern Munich matched up in Amsterdam.

In the end, two sides played to an exciting 3-3 draw. Bayern took a halftime lead through Robert Lewandowski.

Dusan Tadic responded for Ajax with a second half double with one coming from the spot to set them on their way for the win. But Lewandowski fired again, this time from the spot to level it up.

Goals at the death from either side brought a fantastic climax to proceedings with an own goal from Niklas Sule finding the net for Ajax before Kingsley Coman responded for the Bavarians.

The two sides ended the game with 10 men each after Maximilian Wobber was sent packing for Ajax followed by Thomas Muller for Bayern.

The ultimate outcome saw Bayern top the group, with Ajax in second followed.

Benfica left it late at home to a 10-men AEK Athens to grab a 1-0 victory in their last Uefa Champions League group stage showdown.

Alex Grimaldo was the match-winner two minutes from added time to confirm their spot in the Europa League next year.

AEK ended off a man short following the dismissal of Konstantinos Galanopoulos three minutes to fulltime as their European adventure ends on all fronts and on sour note too.
