Zlatan Ibrahimovic agrees return to AC Milan on free transfer - report

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reportedly reached verbal agreement to join AC Milan for a second time and is expected to be unveiled at San Siro next week.

Ibrahimovic has been linked with a host of club's across Europe since his contract with Major League Soccer outfit LA Galaxy expired this month.

Everton, Tottenham, Manchester United and Bologna were all credited with an interest in the legendary Sweden international striker but Milan is said to have won the race.

The Serie A giants are currently embroiled in another underwhelming domestic campaign, that hit a historic low when Stefano Pioli's side suffered the worst defeat the club had witnessed in 21 years last week.

A 5-0 thumping of Atalanta resulted in Pioli issuing a public plea for the veteran striker to make a return to the struggling Rossoneri side.

The towering Swede played for Milan between 2010 and 2012, initially on loan from FC Barcelona before the Italian giants made the deal permanent for €24 million.

During his two seasons at San Siro, Ibrahimovic scored 56 goals in 85 games and inspired the side to the Scudetto in the 2010/11 season, which marked their last domestic honour.

However, Ibrahimovic will now find Milan in 11th place in the Italian top-flight at the mid-way mark of the season, 21 points behind league leaders Inter.
