Serie A match report Juventus v Parma

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Juve's attack after sitting out the Coppa Italia victory over Udinese. Matthijs De Ligt partnered Leonardo Bonucci in central defence with Merih Demiral out injured.

Juventus should've taken a seventh minute lead from a corner on the right, but Bonucci headed on the roof of the net.

Surprisingly Juve made a change inside the 21st minute with Danilo who have entered early from the bench before replacing Alex Sandro at fullback.

Luigi Sepe denied Ronaldo from point-blank range with a strong save after the Portuguese twisted and turned in the area few minutes later.

Juve finally seized advantage when Ronaldo's right-footed strike two minutes to halftime powered past Sepe with help of a deflection.

Roberto Inglese who struggled to continue playing was rightfully removed seconds later and replaced by Andreas Cornelius.

Danilo created an opening to the edge of the area six minutes from halftime and powered a strong effort at Sepe, who tipped the shot onto the post.

Parma drew level when substitute Cornelius beat Aaron Ramsey to a cross before heading into the top corner 55 minutes gone.

Ronaldo restored Juve's lead three minutes later after a timeous run onto Paulo Dybala's cross to stab home with reasonable ease.

Juve's lead became under threat again with Jasmin Krutic closing in, however Wojciech Szczesny flew across to keep their lead intact.

The champions in the end capitalised on second-place Inter Milan's 1-1 draw at Lecce for a four-point lead at the top of the table.
