Report: Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to switch Juventus for Paris Saint-Germain

After guiding Juventus to a record-ninth consecutive Serie A crown this season, Ronaldo seemingly confirmed his intent to remain with the club after sharing his desire to retain the title again in the 2020/21 campaign.

According to France Football, however, the 35-year-old considered leaving the club earlier this season after voicing his desire to join Paris Saint-Germain, where he hoped to team up with Brazil superstar Neymar and French wonderkid Kylian Mbappe.

The Portugal international reportedly first toyed with the idea of moving to Paris in October last year after feeling frustrated by the Bianconeri's performance in a 2-1 UEFA Champions League win over Spartak Moscow.

That feeling of frustration is one that has reportedly persisted for Ronaldo throughout his time in Turin, and is said to stem from the view that the Italian side is not on par with teams such as former club Real Madrid and PSG.

It is claimed the Portugal talisman's departure from Italy looked probable, rather than possible, but the position changed following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, which put a halt to the likelihood of any deal.

Ronaldo ultimately went on to score 31 goals in 33 appearances for the league campaign as Juve won a record-extending 36th Serie A title, and a record ninth league crown in succession.
