Coronavirus: Juventus star Bliase Matuidi tests positive, Espanyol confirm six players

On Tuesday evening, Juventus released a statement confirming the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner was in self-isolation and becomes the second-first team player after Daniele Rugani to test positive.

The statement read: "Blaise Matuidi has undergone medical tests that have revealed his positivity to the Coronavirus-COVID-19.

"The player, as of Wednesday 11 March, has been in voluntary home isolation. He will continue to be monitored and will follow the same regime. He is well and is asymptomatic."

Meanwhile, in LaLiga, Espanyol revealed six of their players have tested positive, this comes after Valencia confirmed '35 percent' of their squad have been infected by the global pandemic.

"We had confirmation this afternoon that six members of the first team and the technical staff of RCD Espanyol de Barcelona have returned positive results for COVID-19," the statement read.

"All of them are suffering from mild symptoms and they are complying with the medical recommendations."

Radio Marca also confirmed former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz has been affected, with the 76-year-old being placed in an intensive care unit after showing severe symptoms.
