Real to sign Liverpool star after 5-2 thrashing?

Real Madrid are now reportedly plotting a move for a Liverpool star after thumping the English giants 5-2 earlier this week.

After going 2-0 down early on, Los Blancos comfortably put five goals past the Reds to stage an emphatic comeback in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie on Tuesday.

There were a series of talking points from the match, with a few of the goals conceded by Jurgen Klopp's team being a result of errors, while Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois also made a mistake of his own.

Although the final scoreline left a lot to be desired for the Merseysiders, Los Blancos were left impressed with one of their opponents' stars.

According to Fichajes, the reigning European champions are now monitoring Anfield sensation Stefan Bajcetic amid the youngster's impressive breakthrough campaign.

The 18-year-old has already made 15 first-team appearances this season, and it is said that both Real and their arch-rivals FC Barcelona consider him an interesting option as a squad player for the near future.

It is further claimed that the teenager, whose father is former Serbia international Srdan Bajcetic, is expected to get his first call-up for Spain's senior national team next month.

Bajcetic, who won Liverpool's January Player of the Month award, recently signed a contract with club until June 2027, though, so it could prove difficult for potential suitors to acquire his services.

The former Celta Vigo youth star recently earned a lot of praise from his manager Klopp, with the German tactician hailing him as an "exceptional" talent.

"Stefan played exceptional and not because he is only 18, he just played exceptional," Klopp said before their clash against Newcastle United last weekend.

"Top talent, super player. Played really good for us so far. Since he is with us, it is a pure joy to work with him.

"I think the mix of Serbia and Spain is a good one for football. If you meet him he is a top, intelligent boy and it is a joy to work together.

"The interesting thing is his dad and Thiago's dad played together for Celta Vigo so not only Thiago, but Thiago as well took him under his wing.

"He has a great bunch of players around him that he can work from and he is an absolute joy."
