PSG 'agree deals' for two blockbuster signings

Paris Saint-Germain have now reportedly agreed deals for two top stars ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, including Bayern Munich's record signing.

The French giants are within touching distance of a second successive Ligue 1 title. However, their season has not gone completely according to plan as they were once again eliminated from the UEFA Champions League at the round of 16 stage after suffering the exact same fate in the 2021/22 campaign.

The squad has also been riddled with internal issues, with tensions between Kylian Mbappe and Neymar dominating the headlines in the first few months of the current campaign, while Lionel Messi was also not exempt from drama after he was suspended for making a trip to Saudi Arabia without the club's permission.

To make matters worse, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and right-back Achraf Hakimi are both involved in ongoing court cases, with the latter having been charged with the alleged rape of a young woman earlier this year.

With an opportunity to start on a clean slate, the Parisians have already begun planning for next season, with two signings now reportedly close to being announced.

According to RMC Sport, PSG have agreed personal terms with Bayern defender Lucas Hernandez.

It is claimed the Bavarians now need to accept an offer for their record signing – they paid €80 million (R1.7 billion) to sign the Frenchman from Atletico Madrid in 2019 – but negotiations between the two parties are expected to be difficult as the German giants were initially set to extend the player's contract.

Talks over that renewal have since been halted, with the 27-year-old reportedly ready for a new venture back in his native country.

PSG are also said to have agreed a deal for highly-rated Uruguay midfielder Manuel Ugarte, and are set to trigger his €60 million (R1.2 billion) release clause at Sporting CP.

Christophe Galtier's side appear to have beaten competition from the likes of Aston Villa, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur for the defensive midfielder's signature.

It was also reported earlier this week that PSG have exercised their option to buy Hugo Ekitike on a permanent deal from Stade Reims after the 20-year-old spent the season on loan at the Parc des Princes.
