Moussa Wague set for FC Barcelona return

Senegal starlet Moussa Wague – who is the youngest African player ever to score at a FIFA World Cup – is set to return to FC Barcelona after Ligue 1 side OGC Nice elected not to make his loan move permanent.

Wague joined Nice on a six-month-long loan deal in January, and made five league appearances for the club before the season was interrupted by the coronavirus outbreak.

According to GFFN, the French outfit has decided not to exercise its €15 million (R300 million) option to sign the 21-year-old permanently, leaving him free to return to Barca where he already boasts six senior appearances to his name.

Three of those appearances for the Blaugrana came during the first half of the 2019/20 campaign, including two during the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

The former Eupen defender became the youngest African player to score at a World Cup in 2018 when he scored in Senegal's 2-2 group stage draw with Japan, and had reportedly attracted the attentions of Premier League side West Ham United prior to his loan move to France.
