A legendary former striker believes Mamelodi Sundowns' upcoming match against Borussia Dortmund will determine if they are truly at the level of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Sundowns made a strong impression in their first match against Sout Korean outfit Ulsan HD, securing a 1-0 win that sent them to the top of Group F.

Next up is German giants Dortmund at the TQL Stadium on Saturday (18:00 SA time).
“Yes, obviously, playing against Dortmund is the real test because you are competing against one of the top teams in Europe. So, it’s going to be difficult,” shares Shane McGregor, the former Kaizer Chiefs striker.
“Their victory was against Ulsan from South Korea, and there is a significant difference in the quality of players between Germany and South Korea. So, yes, it’s a massive game, and Sundowns should be pleased if they can at least earn a point from this match.
“Sundowns are definitely not the favourites in this match-up against one of Europe’s top teams. This is not Africa, and it’s not Asia - it will be a very challenging game.
“While Borussia Dortmund managed only a draw in their opening match, it’s important to consider their opponent. Many people don’t realise that South American football is very strong," he goes on.
McGregor concedes that Dortmund may not have played well in their opening match, but the fact they managed to earn a point is key.
"Dortmund and Fluminense are favourites to progress from this group. So, it’s not that Dortmund underperformed, it was the quality of the opposition that matched them.

“If you look at all the South American clubs in this tournament, they are performing well and winning. The hot weather conditions also suit the South American teams.
“We will see on Saturday whether Sundowns' 1-0 victory against the South Koreans was impressive or not. They need to at least secure one point in this game. If they don't, they will be in trouble.”
