Another top Chelsea star to join Barca?

Following Andreas Christensen's switch in July, another top Chelsea star could be on his way to FC Barcelona in the near future.

The Catalan giants snatched up the Denmark international from the Blues on a free transfer at the end of last season following the expiry of his deal at Stamford Bridge.

To add to the London side's frustrations, two players club co-owner Todd Boehly pursued in the latest transfer window, Raphinha and Jules Kounde, were expected to join Chelsea until the Spanish side entered the race for the pair.

Both players ended up at the Camp Nou instead, forcing the London club to look elsewhere for new signings.

With Barca recently showing an interest in signing free agents amid their much-publicised financial constraints, a number of top stars whose contracts are set to expire at the end of this season are reportedly being monitored by the club.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, N'Golo Kante's contract situation is now being tracked by the Blaugrana, with a view to making a move for his services at the end of the campaign.

Recent reports have suggested that Sergio Busquets is becoming surplus to requirements at Barcelona, and that his contract will not be renewed.

Kante is thus reportedly being considered as a replacement for the Spanish star, who will turn 35 in July 2023.

It is further claimed that the Frenchman's contract renegotiations with Chelsea have stalled as the club feels the 31-year-old's salary does not match the amount of time he is available to play, with the midfielder having spent a lot of time on the sidelines due to injury in recent seasons.
