Brighton end Liverpool's FA Cup campaign

Liverpool's FA Cup defence came to an end after going down 2-1 to Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon.

Trent Alexander-Arnold came in as the Reds' only change after the goalless draw with Chelsea last weekend, as Darwin Nunez was named on the bench.

The game got off to a lively start as Brighton defender made a vital block on the goal-line to keep out Mohamed Salah's powerful volley.

Brighton went close to breaking the deadlock on 15 minutes when Solly March burst down the right flank before picking out Evan Ferguson, who saw his shot cleared off the line by Alexander-Arnold.

Both sides were threatening but it was Liverpool who got the opener on the break, as Harvey Elliot ran onto a pass from Salah before firing past goalkeeper  Jason Steele.

The hosts got their reward in the just before the break when Tariq Lampety's shot from distance took a big deflection off Dunk and sailed into the back of the net.

With the scores still stuck at 1-1, Jurgen Klopp made a triple change before the hour mark as Jordan Henderson, Nunez and Milner replaced Naby Keita, Elliot and Alexander-Arnold.

Even with the flurry of changes from Klopp in the second half, clear-cut chances were hard to come by for the visitors while Brighton grew stronger.

In the end though, the home side would go on to find a late winner through Kaoru Mitoma, who scooped the ball into the back of the net after some good work by Pervis Estupinan.
