West Ham suspend recruitment director Tony Henry over racist claims regarding African players

Henry recently made the shock admission that the Hammers' were uninterested in bringing in any more players from Africa, because ‘they have a bad attitude’ and ‘cause mayhem’ in the team.

The Premier League club have since responded with disgust at the claims and moved swiftly to suspend Henry.

A statement from the London club read: 'The Club can confirm that Director of Player Recruitment Tony Henry has been suspended pending a full and thorough investigation.

'West Ham United will not tolerate any type of discrimination.'

Henry's comments now open himself and West Ham to legal action, according to Kick It Out chairperson Lord Ouseley, who described the comments as potentially unlawful.
