Manchester United returned to winning ways in the Premier League following a late 1-0 win away to Fulham on Saturday afternoon.
Raphael Varane was welcomed back by United although he started on the bench, while injury ruled out Marcus Rashford as Alejandro Garnacho was given another start in the attack.
The embattled giants were ahead eight minutes in when Alejandro Garnacho played in a telling ball to the far post for Scott McTominay to tap in, but it didn't stand following an offside with the on-field decision overturned after consultation the Video Assistant Review (VAR).
Fulham carved out their first scare after the opening quarter where a switch of play saw Willian drift in from a tight angle to have a go, but he went wide in the end.
With the match pretty balanced, United were on the attack again following the half-hour mark and had half-hearted attempts from Jonny Evans and Bruno Fernandes put Bernd Leno to work.
After a quiet first half, the Red Devils looked to hit the opening early on through Garnacho's angled shot from a narrow position, but Leno smothered.
United were under intense pressure later on and needed a superb save from their goalkeeper Andre Onana to deny Joao Palhinha profiting from a tight angle.
Brazilian international Antony, who have had disappointing season to date was withdrawn midway in the second half and witnessed Facundo Pellistri enter.
The Red Devils looked to steal the points late on with a low free-kick by Fernandes and an ambitious overhead kick by Anthony Martial, but neither capitalised.
Captain Fernandes came good though at the death when he got an opening outside the area and sold one challenge to fire in the bottom-corner.
Varana made a cameo appearance following the closing minutes, as the Red Devils closed shop and returned to winning ways following two woeful defeats.
