Mbappe's future has seemingly taken another twist as the Blaugrana have reportedly declared their interest in signing the France forward, despite long-known interest in the player from Los Blancos.
The 23-year-old, who is in the Les Bleus squad that will take on Bafana Bafana in a friendly next week, has previously insisted that a decision on where he will be playing next season will only be made once the current campaign concludes, so it remains to be seen if he will decide to extend his stay in Paris or try a new challenge elsewhere.
According to L'Equipe, however, the attacker is willing to listen to the Blaugrana, who could now hijack Real's attempt to secure his signature.
It is claimed the Catalans see the PSG forward as a less costly alternative to Erling Haaland – the Frenchman would arrive at the Camp Nou as a free agent, while Barca would have to pay Borussia Dortmund the Norwegian's reported release clause of €75 million (R1.2 billion).
While Barca have found themselves in financial trouble over the past year, it is understood that their recent €595 million (R9.5 billion) loan from Goldman Sachs and their new sponsorship deal with Spotify, said to be worth €70 million (R1.1 billion) a year, could help them put together a proposal Mbappe will consider.
