Lionel Messi broke yet another record as he led Argentina to the 2021 Copa America final following their semi-final triumph over Colombia early on Wednesday morning.
Argentina took an early lead in the match through a Lautaro Martinez strike, after Messi had found the Inter Milan striker in the box.

With the score 1-0 to the Albiceleste at the break, Colombia scored an equaliser on the hour mark when Luis Diaz completed a surprise counter-attack. The two South American nations failed to find a winner in the rest of the second half, though, and the match went straight to a penalty shootout.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was the hero for Argentina as he saved three spot-kicks, from Premier League duo Yerry Mina and Davinson Sanchez, and Edwin Cardona, while Messi, Leandro Paredes and Lautaro Martinez scored their penalties to book Argentina a spot against host nation Brazil in Sunday's final at Rio de Janeiro's Maracana Stadium.
Messi had even more reason to smile, though, because he set yet another record with his fifth assist in this Copa America, beating his previous record of four assists in the 2016 competition.
Argentina will be hoping to win their first major international trophy since lifting the Copa America in 1993 when they take on Neymar's Brazil this weekend.
