Following yet another goalscoring display on Sunday, Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski has now achieved a milestone only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have matched this century.
On Sunday, in Bayern's first match since the Bundesliga's return from the coronavirus-enforced break, Lewandowski picked up where he left off by scoring the opening goal in his side's 2-0 win over minnows Union Berlin.

In doing so, the four-time Bundesliga Golden Boot winner took his tally to 40 goals across all competitions for the season – a milestone he has now achieved in a fifth consecutive campaign and one that sees him join Messi and Ronaldo in an exclusive club.
His goal on Sunday means Lewandowski is only the third player to have scored 40 or more goals in five consecutive seasons this century, with Messi having done so 10 times between 2009 and 2019, and Ronaldo eight times between 2010 and 2018 during his spell with Real Madrid.

The Poland international is also leading the race to claim a fifth Bundesliga Golden Boot, with 26 goals for the season, which would see him become only the second player, behind Bayern legend Gerd Muller, to win it five times.
