With the Bundesliga returning to action on 16 May, here are nine South African stars who graced Germany's top flight in the years gone by.
Earlier in the week, the DFL announced the resumption of football across Germany, with the first set of fixtures to recommence on the weekend of 16-17 May.

Over the years, a number of South African players have graced the league, including former Bafana Bafana midfielder Delron Buckley who scored 21 goals in 206 appearances across spells with VfL Bochum, Arminia Bielefeld, Borussia Dortmund, Mainz and Karlsruher.

Bielefeld are the club with the most representatives from the tip of Africa, with Buckley, Rowen Fernandez, Siyabonga Nkosi and legendary striker Sibusiso Zuma having all played for the club during their respective careers.
Before them, though, Glenn Jordens was the first to light up Germany's top flight, doing so in the 1980s with SV Darmstadt and paving the way for the likes of Lance Davids, Bradley Carnell and Steven Pienaar to follow in his footsteps.

Others, such as Sean Dundee and Panagiotis Retsos who were both born in South Africa but elected to represent Germany and Greece respectively, do not feature in this list.
