However, his arrival has been met with speculation that Alaba will now leave in similar circumstances as he's believed to be seeking a new challenge after 12 years with the Bavarian giants.
But the Germany international is hopeful that the versatile defender will resist the temptation of the Citizens while Real Madrid is also said to be monitoring the situation.

"I really hope David stays," he told Sport BILD when asked about the City interest. "I would like to play with him. He is a good guy, a great footballer, and we like each other privately.

Sane went on to discuss the seamless transition upon his return to his homeland after for years in England since he departed Schalke and tipped them to achieve continental success this season.
"I can feel it [the spirit and excitement at Bayern]. The boys are hot and focused, they have big goals with the club. I think a lot can be achieved. I definitely see a realistic chance of winning the Champions League with Bayern."
Bayern lifted their eighth consecutive domestic crown this season and are set to face Chelsea on 8 August for the return leg of their last-16 Champions League tie.
