Bundesliga wrap: Borussia Dortmund run riot without Jadon Sancho

Borussia Dortmund responded to the early set-back with a 4-0 hammering of Freiburg thanks to a double by Erling Haaland at Westfalenstadion.

Haaland netted on either half for Dortmund for his brace while Emre Can and a stoppage time goal by Felix Passlack sealed an emphatic win.

Eintracht Frankfurt maintained the top spot on the table after edging Hoffenheim 2-1 courtesy of a late winner by Bas Dost at Commerzbank-Arena.

Andrej Kramaric drew first blood for the visitors in the 18th minute but only for Daichi Kamada to level matters for Eintracht nine minutes from the break.

The hosts had the fnal say as, Dost snatched the winner for the hosts with 19 minutes remaining.

Borussia Monchengladbach won their first game of the season after overpowering FC Koln 3-1 at RheinEnergieStadion.

Alassane Plea and Stefan Lainer gave Monchengladbach a two-goal cushion going to the break before Lars Stindl put the game to bed with the third goal 11 minutes inside the second stanza.

Elvis Rexhbecaj scored the consolation goal for Koln in the last six minutes.

Newly-promoted side Stuttgart maintained their relatively good start to the season after holding Bayer Leverkusen to a 1-1 draw at Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Patrik Schick gave Leverkusen a dream start with the opener in the seventh minute but the visitors could not hold on for all the three points, as Sasa Kalajdzic snatched the equaliser for Stuttgart in the last 14 minutes to earn them a point.

Werder Bremen won back-to-back games for the first time this season after edging newly-promoted side Arminia Bielefeld 1-0 at Weserstadion.

Leonardo Bittencourt broke the deadlock for Bremen and that was enough to earn the hosts their second win in three matches.
