Bundesliga match report Werder Bremen v Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich were crowned  Bundesliga champions for the eighth consecutive season after edging Werder Bremen 1-0 on Tuesday evening.

A win was all the Bavarians needed to clinch the crown, as Javier Martinez and Ivan Perisic missed the trip due to various complications while Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller returned to the attack.

Bayern immediately pushed for a fast start following the earlier exchanges, with Kingsley Coman drilling a decent opening off a Joshua Kimmich pass wide from 15-yards out.

Die Werderaner's response came after 17 minutes as Maximilian Eggstein had Manuel Neuer at full stretch with a powerful strike following a good move.

The league leaders held firm and continued probing moments later as Serge Gnabry's strike forcing the host to gather control at the back with solid blocks.

Bremen finally succumbed three minutes to halftime after Robert Lewandowski beat the offside trap to turn home a delightful pass from Jerome Boateng.

The first change of the encounter came straight after halftime and it was the home side who introduced Sebastian Langkamp for Kevin Vogt.

Bayern went in search for a second soon afterwards and had the ball in the net on 55 minutes through Lewandowski, but the flag went up after the Polishman strayed offside.

The Bavarians asked all the questions at this stage with Thomas Muller seeing his strike turned away by a crowd of bodies following good work from Coman and Kimmich.

Bayern were down to ten men after Alphonso Davies's second bookable offence for an off-the-ball incident 12 minutes from time.

The dismissal didn't bother Hans Flick's side who held out the remaining few minutes to land the title with two matches to spare.
