Borussia Dortmund remain in the hunt for a top-four finish after defeating Hertha Berlin 2-0 on Saturday night.
After Wendesday's UEFA Champions League tie against Sevilla, Dortmund recalled Julian Brandt, Jude Bellingham and Morey Bauza as Jadon Sancho missed out once again through injury.
The first big chance came the Borussians' way, as Mateu Morey picked out Marco Reus who had made a fantastic run, but the skipper scuffed his effort wide ofthe mark.
Brandt justified his inclusion by opening the lead for the hosts. Reus played Brandt the ball 30 yards from goal and he took a touch into space and thumped a shot at goal with the dip and swerve deceiving Jarstein as it went straight down the middle.
On the hour mark, Dortmund went close to adding another goal as Dahoud's took a deflection off Marton Darida and crashed onto the top of the crossbar.
Hertha's hopes of staging a comeback were dented when they were reduced to ten men after Darida was given a straight red card for a tackle on Reus.
Giovann Reyna had a great chance as Erling Braut Haaland flicked a pass to Youssoufa Moukoko to the left of the Hertha area. He went for what appeared to be a shot and dragged it across goal, but Reyna slid in at the back post to get onto the ball, only to smack it back out off the post.
In the first minute of stoppage time, it was 2-0 and dead and buried, with Youssoufa Moukoko skipped past one challenge before firing home to seal three points.
Bayern Munich went five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table after thrashing Werder Bremen 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors had a slow start and had to wait until the 22nd minute for the oepning goal as Leon Goretzka eventually gave them the lead with a header at the back post Thomas Muller's flick-on.
Gnabry came close to doubling the lead for Bayern in the 34th minute with a first-time volley that came off the post but he could not be denied a minute later as he finally made it 0-2 with a low strike into the bottom corner after a through ball by Muller.
Werder were managing to get past Bayern's high press in the closing phase of the first stanza but they lacked the finishing touches to test shot-stopper Manuel Neuer, as the Bavarians went to the break with a two-goal cushion.
Hans-Dieter Flick's charges had a bright start in the second stanza as Lewandowski was unlucky not to make it 3-0 ten minutes from the break with a header from Kingsley Coman's cross that came off the bottom post and the goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka gathered the ball from the rebound.
Lewandowski rued his luck again for the visitors just before the hour-mark after his effort through on goal was saved by the feet of Pavlenka and the Czech shot-stopper tipped his second shot from the rebound into the crossbar.
The Polish striker finally made it 3-0 for Bayern in the 67th minute with a simple tap-in inside the six-yard box after a rebound fell on his path from a corner by Joshua Kimmich.
Lewandowski hit the post again for the Bavarians in the last 12 minutes with a redirected shot and Niclas Fullkrug pulled a goal back for Werder in the last five minutes with a tap-in, but Bayern were already home and dry as they pulled five points clear at the top of the log.
