Wydad 'inquire' about possible Rulani replacement

With things in Morocco currently not going the way Rulani Mokwena would have hoped, Wydad Athletic Club have reportedly inquired about the availability of another coach.

The Red Castle have endured an underwhelming start to the season, picking up just three wins from eight matches thus far, and currently sitting in ninth place on the Botola Pro 1 table.

The side recently suffered two consecutive league defeats, losing against COD Meknes and RS Berkane, putting a momentary dent in their hopes of finishing in a position that would secure a place in next season's CAF Champions League.

With pressure mounting on the South African tactician, the side have earmarked former coach Faouzi Benzarti as a potential replacement for the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns boss, according to FilGoal who cited reports form Tunisia.

Benzarti has previously managed the Red Castle on four occasions.

It has now been claimed that the Moroccan outfit "opened lines of communication" with the 74-year-old in order to find out whether e would be interested in returning to the side for a fifth time.

This comes after the tactician left his position as head coach of the Tunisian national team last month, after taking charge of just four games.

While Mokwena may be feeling pressure to obtain better results after two draws and three losses have halted their progress in the league, it has previously been reported that the club maintain confidence in the coach.

It has, however, also been suggested that the faith will not last long if results do not turn around.

Fans, meanwhile, expressed their frustration after the side's after the 1-0 defeat to RS Berkane, insulting the players and coaching staff while also hurling water bottles at them as they made their way off the field.
