With Al Ahly now linked with the surprise appointment of Xavi Hernandez to replace Jose Riveiro, the agent of the former FC Barcelona coach has broken his silence on the reports.
Al Ahly dismissed Riveiro following a 2-0 defeat to Pyramids FC at the weekend.
The Spanish coach, whose initial contract was set to run until June 2027, was given his marching orders early after recording just one win in seven matches in charge.

But just hours after his exit, reports in the Egyptian media began linking Al Ahly with the shock acquisition of Xavi, who has been a free agent since leaving Barca at the end of the 2023/24 season.
According to Egyptian publication Mobtada, Xavi’s agent Arturo Canales wasted no time in dismissing suggestions that his client could replace Riveiro in Cairo.
Canales stated in a press interview that Al Ahly had not contacted them about signing Xavi.
He said: "Xavi will not be moving to Al Ahly of Egypt in the coming period, contrary to what has been claimed."
Having been without a job for a full season, Xavi was recently linked with the India national team post.
However, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) issued a public statement refuting claims that Xavi had applied for the role, describing the matter as a media hoax.
