Boutouil is said to be deemed surplus to requirements at the Botola Pro League giants, particularly following the departure of coach Rulani Mokwena.
The Moroccan international joined Wydad in September last year on a two-year contract, with an option to extend for a further season, during Mokwena’s short tenure at the club.
The 27-year-old's current contract with the Casablanca powerhouse is set to expire at the end of this season, and the club has an option to extend by another year.
Despite making two appearances in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, it appears the new head coach, Mohamed Amine Benhachem, does not see Boutouil in his future plans.
Earlier reports from Morocco suggested that the Red Castle were reluctant to terminate Boutouil’s contract, even though the player was reportedly willing to walk away from the remainder of his wages.
The club, however, did not want to part ways with the defender without ensuring some form of compensation or benefit from his potential suitors.
