Wydad Athletic Club have reportedly made a final decision regarding Thembinkosi Lorch’s future, following the signing of a new star ahead of the upcoming season.
Lorch joined the Botola Pro League giants on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns in January 2025, at a time when his former coach, Rulani Mokwena, was still at the helm.

The 31-year-old made a strong impression during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, becoming a fan favourite. He particularly stood out against top clubs like Manchester City and Juventus FC, even scoring a goal during the tournament.
Following Wydad’s early elimination from the Club World Cup, the club expressed its intent to secure Lorch permanently before his loan deal expires on July 31.
Initial reports from Africa indicated that Masandawana had set a purchase clause of around €500,000 (approximately R10 million), a figure Wydad were reportedly willing to meet.
However, after Lorch’s standout performances on the global stage, it was claimed that Downs had reportedly doubled their asking price to €1 million (around R20 million), aiming to capitalise on the former Orlando Pirates star.
According to a new report from Kooora, the Red Castle were unable to meet the revised asking price and have now opted to sign Lorch's potential replacement instead.

The report has indicated that the Moroccan giants have quickly secured the services of Congolese midfielder Joseph Bakasu from Miniama on a four-year deal.
Unless Wydad reverse their decision and reach a permanent transfer agreement with the Brazilians, Lorch, affectionately known as Nyoso, will return to his parent club ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
