In a statement, PUMA confirmed that the 28-year-old will now join an impressive roster of stars including Neymar and Antoine Griezmann, as well as local ballers such as Thembinkosi Lorch and Themba Zwane to their ranks.

The long-term deal will see the forward and the outfitter collaborate across many projects which aren't limited to just his on-field work but will extend across to Depay's other interests such as music, fashion, art and community outreach.

The Dutch star's reaction

"To me, this is a perfect match, PUMA shares my passion and vision for my future and I cannot wait for people to see what we have planned," Depay said.

"I want to inspire people from all walks of life and continue the work of my foundation, which aligns naturally with PUMA's existing REFORM platform

"PUMA has a history of high-quality and innovation having worked with some of the most iconic football players in history. Like me, those icons were brave to be different, it's in my DNA. We are going to take things to the next level."
