Swallows FC will be justified to turn to the experience of Nigerian goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi as they seek avoiding sinking into the relegation mud fight.
The Birds have finally registered Akpeyi with the PSL and sat on the bench in their 4-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates on Friday night.

Akpeyi has been training with Swallows since September, but the club couldn't register him due to their FIFA transfer ban which has since been lifted.
With the ban up, the veteran goalkeeper has sealed his deal with Swallows on an arrangement running up to the end of the season and will have a measure of hope in making a difference in the last eight league games.
Of concern to Swallows has been how they have been leaking goals having conceded 28 in 22 games with Thakasani Mbanjwa and Sanele Tshabalala in goals.
Mbanjwa has been the regular keeper playing 20 games and conceding 26 goals while Tshabalala has played twice and was beaten twice.
The experience factor or lack of between the two counts in that Mbanjwa is only in his first season playing regularly in the top league while is also thin on minutes at this level.
This then means Akpeyi has the edge.

Though the 36-year-old last played in December 2021 while at Chiefs he has bags of experience in the DStv Premiership counting from his time at Chippa United through to AmaKhosi.
Swallows' next league match is in a fortnight against Golden Arrows after which they visit AmaZulu before hosting Mamelodi Sundowns after which they will have games against Stellenbosch, Maritzburg United, Chiefs, Royal AM, and Marumo Gallants.
