SOLD: Swallows supporters reach resolution

Literally loyal to the end, Moroka Swallows supporters have officially made their decision to buy the club's ownership certificate from current owners.

KickOff has been informed of the resolutions that were taken by the club's remaining supporters in a meeting that was held at Takalani, front opposite the Lesedi Clinic near Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto on Sunday.

The Dube Birds are currently no more following Mogashoa's decision to sell the club's DStv Premiership status to Marumo Gallants.

Gallants' status in the Motsepe Foundation Championship has been sold to amateur outfit Leruma United.

"We had a meeting and a lot of points were raised. We have decided not to abandon the team, we have decided to resurrect it. We don't want to be adopted by any other team, we are still united," an insider tells this website.

"The purpose of the meeting was to find resolutions and a way forward. Our purpose is to have total control in the name of Moroka Swallows.

"We want to avoid situations whereby we push the team from lower divisions to the PSL, only for it to be sold again once it makes its way back to the top.

"At the moment, we have nominated a delegation that will go out there and find out who is in possession of the club's certificate.

"Whether that person is willing to give it to us or not, this time around the team will be owned by its supporters. We already have plans in place for how are we going to make sure the team is ours.

"It will depend on how much they are willing to sell the club's certificate for since we already have some supporters who own shares in the team.

"If it comes to the price, whoever has the certificate must be reasonable with his demands because by the time they closed shop, we had already spent a lot of money buying the club's merchandise.

"The team that is in charge of the negotiations has been given a time-frame of just one week to finish their task.

"We are prepared to start all over again in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and make our way back to the top tier," reveals the insider.

As per the norm during the course of our write-ups on Swallows' sale, Mogashoa could not be reached for comment for his take on these developments.
