Swallows ordered to pay within 10 days

Soweto giants Moroka Swallows have been ordered by the Premier Soccer League to pay one of their former players agreed settlement fee or face consequences.

According to the president of the newly formed Footballers Union of South Africa Mr Taelo Motloung, the Dube Birds and Motsepe Foundation Championship side Polokwane City Rovers were given 10 days by the Dispute Resolution Chamber [DRC] to do what is right by their former players.

"There was a sitting on Tuesday, we had four matters before the DRC," Motloung tells KickOff.

"The two clubs have been ordered to pay within 10 days of the hearing, which was on Tuesday.

"Failing to do so we will have to draft a letter to the PSL to deduct from their PSL grant.

"Tshepo Malope, Nqobani Zulu, Ndima, Wagaba and Malope all have a case against City Rovers. Default on salaries.

"Some are owed four months' salaries and some it's five months' salaries.

"Zulu has already received his payment though. It was deducted from the club's grant. They defaulted last month in June. So, the total money the club owe the players is now R134 500.

"Then there's Phelelani Mvelase and Moroka Swallows. It's the same with him, it's the default in a settlement.

"It's a three-month settlement. His contract with Swallows was left with a season, which was in December last year.

"They also have to pay in 10 days, failing to do so the money will be deducted from the club's grant next month."
