Swallows' problems compound with another key exit

The problems facing Moroka Swallows look set to intensify, with the club losing a key member of staff.

KickOff can reveal that the Dube Birds have parted ways with DStv Diski Challeng coach Thoka Matsimela.

The former Baroka FC coach is understood to have handed in his resignation letter to Swallows last week Thursday. Matsimela is back home in Limpopo whilst contemplating his next move.

The Birds made headlines last month with the release of numerous players, in what the club termed as misconduct after the players failed to report for training and failed to honour two fixtures in December.

Swallows are also expected to announce changes to their technical team after coach Steve Komphela did not report for training after the PSL break due to the AFCON tournament.

"There are still members of the technical team and officials in the club that still waiting for outstanding payments," said a source close to the club.

Matsimela has since confirmed his departure from Swallows.

"I am no longer with Swallows. I was only it was due to results. I can't comment about the issue of money," Matsimela tells KickOff.

Meanwhile, midfielder Andile Jali has taken the club to the PSL DRC due to outstanding payments. Indications are that Jali is still owed his signing-on fee since joining the club last year in August.
