Rulani backing Nyatama to succeed at Swallows

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has backed counterpart Musa Nyatama to succeed a Soweto giants Swallows FC after being named as interim coach until the end of the season.

Nyatama returned for a second spell as interim coach following the dramatic departure of Ernst Middendorp on 8 March.

The former Orlando Pirates midfielder picked up a valuable point against Mamelodi Sundowns at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday in the Dube Birds' pursuit to survive relegation.

"I can't play Jesus Christ and I don't know what is good for the country, I am not qualified for that, but you know how I feel about Musa Nyatama," Mokwena said.

"I have a very soft spot for Musa, he has given me his best, I wish him all the best.

"I saw him today, his team fight, I watched even the last three games, the last three games only one of them was the previous coach, the last two was Musa.

"Even prior to that also earlier this season Musa was in charge, and he is gaining experience.

"He is getting good mileage, unfortunately with this job you get better with hands on deck, you get better as you go, I wish him all the best."

Meanwhile, Mokwena is not pressing any panic buttons despite Sundowns dropping four points in their last two league matches.

"I am very proud of the efforts of the players, the spirit in the squad, the discovering of the players.

"It's so nice to see Nassir, Zungu, Gaston after such a long time on the pitch, AB (Adelmounaim Boutouil) also, we have to play these games, and we have also had to try to make sure the squad is close to each other, proud of the players for the gallant efforts," Mokwena added.
