PSL announces latest winners of Player/Coach of the Month

Musa Nyatama has celebrated his appointment to the head coach job at Swallows FC with his first personal award as the man leading the bench.

Nyatama has been the interim coach at Swallows since Ernst Middendorp left the club battling near the drop zone.

The retired midfielder has turned on the charm with The Birds with an incredible run of form of late that left Swallows as the only club winning their last four league games.

That run meant Swallows sneaked into the top eight on the last day with the club management immediately responding by handing the 35-year-old the duties to carry on next season on a permanent basis instead of being caretaker.

Nyatama recorded five wins, three defeats and one draw in his nine games in charge.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Prates midfielder will end the season with the PSL's coach of the month (May) award.

Also smiling is Cape Town City striker Khanyisa Mayo.

Besides sharing DStv Premiership top goal scorer award with Peter Shalulile on 12 goals, signing a new contract and being named his club's Player of the Season he has added the PSL' Player of the month (May).

Mayo has attracted the interest of Kaizer Chiefs, but his new deal means AmaKhosi will have to stretch their budget to entice City into selling.

The 24-year-old scored eight goals in the last nine league games.
