My Locker Room Secrets: Sisa Nombe

In the latest edition of My Locker Room Secrets, KickOff catches up with former Moroka Swallows star Sisa Nombe.

Nombe reveals how the late Jokhonia Cibi used to freely drive around the Johannesburg streets despite not owning a driver's license.

Who was always late?

"The late Jokhonia Cibi, the thing is he bought a car even though he didn't have a driver's license.

"He used to drive one of those old 5 Series BMWs, [laughs] that guy used to be a character. Because he was not good at driving a car, that car used to slow him down.

"The music was always too loud in that car. I don't know how he managed."

Any interesting rituals before they played?

"I think everyone had their own belief, we used to do every muti ritual as a team. I would pray before every game. That's how I was raised.

"The foreign players are the ones who brought into our team."

Who was the jokester?

"Molefe Ntsoelengoe was the biggest clown, he always saw himself as this international model, the way he used to walk in the dressing room with his chest out.

"But Samuel Ngobeni took the cake, even now he is still talking nonsense. You will never stop laughing."

Who was the singer?

"Peter Matshitse loved singing."

Who was the best dressed and who was the worst dressed?

"We had somebody who believed he dressed better than all of us [laughs] when all he did was cover his body with some shiny stuff. He loved wearing bright colors. His clothes always looked bigger and oversized.

"As for the worst dressed, Patrick Ningiza never cared how he looked, he was careless."

Who never showered?

"The late Scara Ngobese, that guy was always rushing somewhere. After training he would go straight to nightclubs to enjoy himself. He loved drinking and dancing that boy."

Rate the coach's team talk

"Zeca Marques is my number one. He is one of the youngest coaches to have coached me, that guy knew how to plan for the opposition.

"He was one of the best."
