In the latest edition of My Dream Team, former Jomo Cosmos and Witbank Aces star Lawrence 'Sister Monica' Siyangaphi reveals names of 11 players that played during his era.
What Formation?
"4-3-3. The formation is not important to me. What is important is organisation. I believe the formation depends on the players you have.
"During our time a number 6 had to be all over the pitch. But as South Africans, we grew up with this 4-3-3. It allows you to be creative and go forward very quickly."
Goalkeeper…
"Mark Anderson. He was very courageous and commanding."
Defenders…
"My left-back will be Alfred 'Shuffle' Tshole, I played with him at Aces. He knew when to overlap, to defend and to go forward.
"Right-back is Edward Motale. When I played with him at Cosmos he was disciplined. He only started to have these antics after he grew older.
"Centre-back is Gesond Vilakazi. He was good at tackling. Always one step ahead of the attackers.
"I will pair him with Lucas Radebe. It was not easy to beat him."
Midfield…
"Joseph 'We miss you mannellow' Rapelego, he is late now. A workaholic. Me and him we shared the same style of play. He was the only player who gave me a problem. He could do everything I was doing. You must send a thief to catch a thief.
"On the right, I will put a former AmaZulu player Patrick Nxumalo. He never delayed a pass, he was never late with his passes.
"My last midfielder is Sister Monica. He makes the whole team play. This is not a team for hard workers but a team of smart players."
Strikers…
"On the right, we have Harold 'Jazzy Queen' Legodi. You never rest against this man. He keeps coming at you the whole game.
"On the left, I will put 'Mthakathi', Augustine Makalakalane. Same as Legodi he could attack and defend at the same time.
"My number nine is For Shangase from AmaZulu. He was strong that guy, he knew where the goals were. The only way to deal with him was to kick him."
Substitutes
"Goalkeeper is Brian Perry. He can communicate with his defenders. He reminds people of their duties. He shouts he wants tight marking, no mistakes.
"Defender will be Junior Njiyela from AmaZulu. He was versatile.
"Midfielder will be Andries 'Chaka Chaka' Mpondo.
"Striker is Bonga Shusha, he had strength, and accuracy in terms of shooting."
