The 33-year-old was then linked with several of clubs in the DStv Premiership but was eventually announced as a Moroka Swallows player shortly after Komphela's appointment.

"It's always difficult to bring any player to your team because it's not only about them wishing to come to you," Komphela said at the launch of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season," Komphela said on signing Jali.

"It's about affordability and whether there is a need for such a player in your team, but Andile Jali comes in and he ticks all those boxes.

"Do we need a player of his calibre? Yes. Will he have the influence? Yes. Will he have an impact? Yes. Will he improve us? Yes, Would he evolve anyone? Yes.

"So it's our responsibility to see to it that the transition is seamless without upsetting any processes in Moroka Swallows."

"[He was] more than excited. It's strange. Athletes don't care. As long as they play and Jali had been out for some time. There are lots of rumours and offers and all that.

"I suppose a bit of a plus is that I've worked with Andile at the national team, I worked with Andile at Mamelodi Sundowns, now when we go to Moroka Swallows, that chemistry is already there."

Swallows will being their DStv Premiership campaign with a clash against Lamontville Golden Arrows on Saturday, 5 August at Mpumalanga Stadium.
