Swallows star on Pirates, Downs & Chiefs' radar?

A Moroka Swallows star midfielder could be on the radar of the big teams in Gauteng - Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, among others - after a big hint by his agency.

Although most players who impressed for Swallows this past season would naturally be searching for opportunities elsewhere, following the uncertainty brought about by the club's sale rumours, Lindokuhle Mtshali would not be bound by any contract.

In spite of being among the players fired by the Birds and later reinstated in a player strike in December last year, which led to the club not honouring two fixtures and subsequently being fined R1 million and dockets six points, Mtshali had an impressive campaign after helping Musa Nyatama's men survive relegation.

Swallows displayed a good brand of football under Nyatama, with Mtshali one of the key players in midfield, as the 26-year-old bagged four goals in 21 starts.

Following the expiry of his contract at the Birds, Mike Makaab, CEO of ProSport International, has confirmed that they are in the process of engaging potential new clubs in negotiations over the services of the nimble-footed midfielder.

"Yes, there are [clubs that are interested]. We're busy talking to a number of clubs at the moment," Makaab told KickOff.

"We're confident that within a week or so that we will start serious negotiations with one of those clubs."

When pressed to reveal the teams interested in Mtshali, Makaab could only confirm that it's clubs in Gauteng.

"In Gauteng, yes."
