Goss says ball in Sundowns' court after loan stint expiry

SuperSport United goalkeeper Ricardo Goss has opened up on what might be next in his future.

The lanky net minder's two-year loan deal with Matsatsantsa expires at the end of the current season, and it is not yet clear if parent club Mamelodi Sundowns will exercise the one-year option they have in his contract.

Goss has been a key cog for Gavin Hunt's team this season, having kept nine clean sheets from 32 appearances in all competitions.

With this website having reported earlier this week that he is set to return to Chloorkop as per the agreement between the two clubs, the Bafana Bafana back-up goalkeeper says the league champions will decide his future.

"I also don't know really. My loan was a two-year deal, but Sundowns have not yet clarified what's going to happen," Goss says, responding to a KickOff enquiry.

"This was the second season of my loan deal. I will play wherever I'm needed, but in the end, the decision lies with Sundowns.

"It's been nice getting game-time here at SuperSport, it brings back the confidence. I'm happy with how my loan stint turned out.

"What I can say is, anything can still happen, I might still be here next season, who knows?

"Sundowns is only left with an option. So, with the option, you will never really know if it will be exercised or not.

"This is the first season in the PSL where I played, like, consistently. It's the first time I have played over 20 games in a season."

In the goalkeeping department, The Brazilians currently have Ronwen Williams, Denis Onyango, Jody February, Reeyad Pieterse and young Sanele Tshabalala fighting for the number one jersey.

There is also Ismail Watenga, who has been out on loan at Golden Arrows.

"It's quality, all their goalkeepers are quality. So, in my case, everything depends on Sundowns. On my side, I cannot confirm anything since I'm only left with an option."
