Reeve Frosler won't make his debut for Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto Derby

Head coach Ernst Middendorp says the former Bidvest Wits right-back will not play in the Soweto Derby after he was assessed following his arrival from the Clever Boys last week.

Frosler was sidelined at Wits for not wanting to sign a new contract with the club, not playing a single minute of football for the Absa Premiership log leaders in the first half of the season.

Now the former national under-20 player has to play catch-up to make sure he is on a level with everyone else in the team in terms of match fitness.

“No, he’s not part of the team. You can’t expect to be so long out, you trained on a different level, so sorry for Reeve. Probably he was expecting or thinking [he would play], but we watched him for some days and after two days I was 100 percent sure [that he won’t be ready],” Middendorp said.

“The intensity he is providing at the moment is not enough,” the German added.

Chiefs have Ramahlwe Mphahlele back from injury and he can slot in at right-back, while Kgotso Moleko has been getting more chances to play since the arrival of Middendorp.
