Orlando Pirates' Wayne Sandilands reflects on beautiful Soweto Derby debut against Kaizer Chiefs

The former Mamelodi Sundowns man kept his fifth clean sheet of the season in the goalless draw with arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Sandilands, an off-season signing from Downs, told Bucs' website: "It was a beautiful experience. It’s hard to put into words all the emotions that you feel when you’re on that field. To play in such a massive game is a dream for every player.

“We all grew up watching such games, and we always wondered what it's like to play in the Soweto Derby. I really enjoyed it and the atmosphere was incredible, you can feel the rivalry between the two teams and it is something unique to experience.

“I feel so blessed and happy to be able to have tasted that. I'm looking forward to many more.”
