Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane doubts the Soweto Derby will buck the trend

Sundowns are four points clear of Pirates at the Absa Premiership summit with eight matches left, with Chiefs a further point of the pace.

The Brazilians on Friday travel to AmaZulu, a day before the Soweto Derby takes place at FNB Stadium.

"Be very careful of your talk, we are still in pole position neh," said Mosimane after his side dropped points in a Tshwane derby stalemate with struggling SuperSport United last weekend.

"You must understand the games are getting lesser, the games are getting lesser. You know the Derby is coming, maybe this point [against SuperSport] is good.

"You know what is going to happen there. How do you know Chiefs is going to win the Derby and is gonna beat Pirates? Are you sure? And you know what you usually get there. Okay you said it, I never said it."

Mosimane, who reckons the Tshwane derby outperforms the Soweto Derby when it comes to action on the park, will be looking for revenge when Downs take on 10th-placed Usuthu at King Zwelithini Stadium.

Mosimane's men lost the reverse tie 2-1 in October at Loftus Versfeld.
