Cape Town City's Lehlohonolo Majoro weighs in on Soweto Derby between Chiefs and Pirates

The 30-year-old, who scored 27 goals in 45 starts at Kaizer Chiefs, switched allegiances and joined rivals Orlando Pirates in the 2013/14 campaign, where he managed 15 goals in 26 starts in two-and-a-half seasons at Mayfair.

Now rediscovering his scoring touch at City, ‘Major’ says he still keeps an eye on both his former teams, yet refused to say who he will be supporting on Saturday.

“I’m supporting good football!” he laughs while chatting to snl24.com/kickoff.

“No, I grew up supporting Pirates, but when I was at Chiefs, I felt nothing for Pirates. The same when I was at AmaZulu, I felt nothing for either teams as they were my opponents.

“But I will be watching, as it is one of the biggest games in South Africa.”

Despite last turning out for the Bucs, Majoro reveals some of his closest friends are still at Chiefs, who he last turned out for in 2013.

“I have friends in both teams, who were once my teammates,” he says. “Most of them are at Kaizer Chiefs, people who I regard as my best friends – George Lebese, George Maluleka, Itu Khune – those are my close friends who I was always with, even when I was playing for Pirates as we stayed in the same neighbourhood in Joburg.”

When asked who he thought would be victors come Saturday afternoon, Majoro remained diplomatic.

“May the best team win!” he laughs.

The action at FNB Stadium on Saturday is scheduled to start at 15h30.
