BREAKING: CT City make shock Ertugral decision

Cape Town City have announced shock news regarding interim head coach Muhsin Ertugral, whose return to the PSL scene as a tactician has not gone according to plan.

The Citizens confirmed, via a brief statement on Monday, that Ertugral would be parting ways with the club on mutual terms with immediate effect.

"After technical discussions, the club and Muhsin Ertugral have agreed mutually to part ways," the statement reads.

"The decision comes as a collective in the best interest of the club as we look to end the 24/25 season as strong as possible. We thank Muhsin for his professional and earnest contribution."

These developments come on the back of a disastrous run of 10 matches without a win for the side.

Ertugral had initially joined City to serve as interim head coach until the end of the season, where he would then take up a role as Sporting Director, according to the initial agreement with the club.

The exit is an anti-climatic one for the veteran mentor, who marked his return to the PSL with a memorable win over his former side Kaizer Chiefs, registering a 1-0 victory at the start of January.

Ertugral collected his second consecutive win against another Soweto giant, another 1-0 success against Orlando Pirates just three days later.

The wheels came off  when he  was handed his first taste of defeat in a 1-0 defeat by Marumo Gallants. Ironically, the same team also put the final nail in the coffin of his tenure, with the same scoreline in the reverse fixture last Saturday.

City, 13th on the table, will look to turn the corner against 14th-placed SuperSport United on March 30 in a Betway Premiership encounter.
