AmaTuks halt Orbit College's promotion push

University of Pretoria 1-1 Orbit College

Orbit College failed to regain second spot and keep pace with leaders Durban City in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after a 1-1 draw with University of Pretoria on Sunday.

Well-travelled and veteran ace Samuel Julies put the host on the front-foot five minutes before the break through a decent finish.

Victory looked a certainty until Siyabulela Mabele rose to the fore to snatched the equaliser and gave the visitors a valuable point in their promotion quest.

Baroka FC 0-2 Cape Town Spurs

Cape Town Spurs strengthened their fight against relegation in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and engineered a hard-fought 2-0 win over Baroka FC on Friday.

The victory moved the Urban Warriors out of the bottom-two, seeing Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele to consecutive defeats in the process.

Striker Therlo Moosa netted twice albeit in each half to see the men from the Western Cape over the line out in Lebowakgomo.

Highbury FC 0-0 Pretoria Callies

Highbury FC and Pretoria Callies struggles in the bottom-half of the table continued after playing to a goalless draw.

Both teams are now three-matches on the spin without a win, as the Romans lie in 13th spot and the host four positions higher in ninth-place.

Leruma United 0-0 Durban City

Durban City lead at the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship table were reduced after a goalless draw with Leruma United in a top-against-bottom clash on Saturday.

It's back-to-back goalless stalemates for the Team of Choice who were also held score-less midweek against Orbit College in a top-of-the-table clash.

With the points shared, the Team of Choice position on top of the table remain intact whereas Leruma continue propping up the bottom.

Venda Football Academy 3-0 JDR Stars

JDR Stars title aspirations suffered a blow and went down 3-0 to the Venda Football Academy at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

The Hammerboys also finished with ten players after Kamohelo Segopa got his marching orders for a foul late in the second exchanges.

Goals either side of the half by Tau Rankoko, Banele Gama and Matimu Tshabalala ensured maximum points for the host following on from the midweek success over Cape Town Spurs.

Hungry Lions 2-2 Black Leopards

Black Leopards ambitions towards the top-three were derailed after a 2-2 draw against Hungry Lions out in Upington.

It was a buoyant start from Lidoda Duvha and were on their way to the full of haul of points after goals in the first half from Bethuel Muzeu and Thendo Mukumela.

Di Tau, now in their third season in the second-tier, never surrendered but salvaged a point through Zanedane Francis and S'Bongakonke Gamede.

Casric Stars 2-0 Milford Stallions

Casric Stars' fine week of form continued and edged Milford Stallions 2-0 to go fourth on the table and keep their title hopes alive.

Stars entered the match on a high following victory over Pretoria Callies on Tuesday, whilst Milford were on the winning side too against Hungry Lions.

Medupi Thokolo got opener in the first half before Thabang Rakwena doubled the lead in the second period – seeing Milford's top-three ambitions under threat.

Kruger United 2-0 Upington City

Kruger United registered a fourth-successive victory and climbed into second-place following a 2-0 victory over Upington City.

The host were in the lead at the break courtesy of a finish around the half-hour mark from Thulani Ndlela and wrapped it up in the second half through Bright Ndlovu.
