Gilberto's return boosts Al-Ahly

The player, who is now also bound to turn out for the Black Impalas against Bafana Bafana at the African Nations Cup in Ghana, said that his absence in the first leg match was due to pain on the Achilles tendon.

Gilberto was injured before the match against Al Itihad for the first leg of the Champions Cup.

Defending champions, Al-Ahly moved closer to a third successive triumph in the MTN-CAF Champions League when they held Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel to a goalless draw in the first-leg of the finals in Sousse on Saturday.

The “Red Devils” can realise their dream of becoming the only side to lift the prestigious continental title three times in a row should they win the second leg scheduled for a fortnight’s time in Cairo.

Ahly managed to keep a clean sheet against the Tunisian champions, who were playing in their third final in four years.
