Report: Wydad 'reach agreement' to sign Lorch

Wydad Athletic Club are now reported to have finally reached an agreement to sign Thembinkosi Lorch on a permanent deal.

Lorch's future had been uncertain for several weeks, as his loan spell at Wydad came to an end following the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

He initially joined Wydad during the January 2025 transfer window from parent club Mamelodi Sundowns.

It was reported in Morocco that the agreement did not include an option to buy the player outright after his loan, which left Wydad scrambling to secure his services permanently in recent weeks.

Moroccan newspaper Al-Mountakhab now claims that Wydad have reached an agreement with Sundowns over the permanent transfer of Lorch.

According to the Arabic outlet, His agent is said to have been in Morocco to finalise the deal.

The South African star has been hugely impressive since joining Wydad six months ago and was arguably the side’s best player at the Club World Cup, having also scored against Juventus.

As a result, Wydad are reported to have made the 31-year-old a top priority, and are in the process of offloading some players, including reducing the number of foreign stars in the squad.
