South African midfielder Katlego "Tsiki" Ntsabeleng will extend his stay in Major League Soccer after FC Dallas a exercised a contract option to retain his services for the 2023 campaign.
Ntsabeleng enjoyed a break-out season in the United States' Major League Soccer (MLS) where he emerged as a key figure in FC Dallas' midfield in 2022 after being drafted into the squad at the start of the campaign.
The 24-year-old, who was once on the books of Kaizer Chiefs, had previously plied his trade at college level in the US before being snapped up by Dallas where he made 28 appearances across all competitions over the course of the year.
His performances, which also yielded one goal, were enough to convince the club's management of his ability and the club has now exercised an option to retain his services for the 2023 season.
"FC Dallas has exercised contract options on three players, while 20 players remain under contract for the 2023 season," the club announced. "Dallas exercised contract options for Edwin Cerrillo, Marco Farfan and Tsiki Ntsabeleng.
Ntsabeleng's extension means that there will once again be at least two South African players playing in MLS next season, with Bafana Bafana star Bongokuhle Hlongwane set to remain at Minnesota United.
Hlongwane has been confirmed as part of Minnesota's roster for next year after signing a guaranteed contract for 2023 when he joined the club from Maritzburg United at the start of the year.
Meanwhile, next year's edition of the competition will also see former South Africa international defender Bradley Carnell on the sidelines following the addition of St. Louis City, where he serves as head coach, as an expansion team.
