Thulani Serero sends Pitso Mosimane message ahead of FIFA Club World Cup

Al Jazira star Thulani Serero has delivered a message to Al Ahly boss Pitso Mosimane ahead of upcoming the FIFA Club World Cup.

The delayed 2021 edition of FIFA's flagship club competition is set to get underway in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday evening when Serero's Al Jazira plays host to OFC representatives, AS Pirae from Tahiti.

Should the reigning Emirati champions progress beyond that tie, they will meet AFC champions Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia in the Second Round, while Mosimane's Al Ahly will meet Mexico's Monterrey in the round's other tie.

The structure of the competition will then see European champions Chelsea and South American representatives Palmeiras enter at the semi-final stage, where possible ties against Al Jazira and Al Ahly, respectively, await.

Accordingly, Bafana Bafana international Serero and countryman Mosimane could meet in the final of the competition if results go their way, although it is also possible that the South African representatives meet earlier in the competition.

If both Al Jazira and Al Ahly fall to defeat in the Second Round, the two teams will meet in the fifth-place playoff, while they could also meet in the third-place playoff if both clubs reach and lose in the semi-finals.

And, ahead of a possible meeting, Serero delivered a personal message to Mosimane, wishing his compatriot and his team well at the showpiece tournament.

"Hello coach Mosimane, and welcome to Abu Dhabi. I wish you all of the best in the World Cup and hope to meet you in the final," Serero said in a video shared across Al Jazira's social media platforms.
